Dr. Hopwood works from a psychodynamic and relational approach. He works with clients around issues of identity and is especially interested in working with people around the impact of masculinity in their lives and relationships. He provides specialized work in evaluations and referrals for hormone therapy and gender affirming surgeries. He is passionate about helping clients explore issues of spirituality and meaning in their lives. He is committed to supporting clients and professionals to create holistic and satisfying lives with meaning and purpose.

Dr. Hopwood has worked in mental health and social services across several states since 1978. He has worked with trans and gender diverse people in the Boston area since 2005 and managed Fenway Health’s Trans Health Program, from 2006-2019.

Dr. Hopwood is a nationally known seasoned speaker, educator, consultant, and peer-reviewed published author on issues of gender diversity and stigma, mental health, aging, resiliency, and on spiritually integrative psychotherapy.

Melanie works from a relational, psychodynamic, feminist approach to therapy. She has experience with brief treatment and mindfulness modalities. Melanie provides specialized work in evaluations and referrals for hormone treatments and gender affirming surgeries. She takes an individualized approach to treatment and supports clients in their work towards reaching their personal goals.
